LOCUST GROVE —
Locust Grove Police Department will sell a Dodge Nitro that has been used as the school resource officer vehicle to purchase a Ford Expedition from Bob Hurley Ford. The Expedition will cost $32,037 and will come from the public safety fund.
Money from the sale of the Nitro will go back into the fund to help with the cost of the Expedition. The new SUV will be used as the K-9 officer vehicle. Currently the K-9 officer is transported in the back of a donated patrol
vehicle.
When officer Nate Cooper makes an arrest, he must wait for another car to pick up the prisoner because he does not have room to transport both a prisoner and dog. The new vehicle will allow Officer Cooper to transport both.
Also on the agenda was the purchase of AR15 rifles for the police department. The rifles will be purchased from Fabar Firearms at a cost of $3,510. The board added Fabar to the blanket pur-
chases orders for a total of $600. The department will also purchase equipment for police vehicles totaling $3,223.95. The money for the equipment will come from police equipment and assets.
An annual software support contract for the court clerk was approved. The cost is $450 and will come from the jail fund. A fire alarm panel will be replaced at the police department. The purchase will be $1,043 from Mirmac Fire Safety. The money will come from police equipment and assets.
The department will also get a new part-time dis-
patcher. Dylan Hood was hired starting July 20 to work no more than 24 hours per week. He will be paid $8 per hour with a 90 day review.
The board tabled the hiring of a full time officer and a
full time dispatcher. The
resignation of Charles Spradlin was accepted. His last day is set for
July 26.
In other business:
• The board approved proceeding with condemnation of the Reva Ingram property located at
401 S. Walnut Street. Condemnation will start July 25 and must be completed by Aug. 16.
• The town made an agreement with the Board of County Commissioners of Mayes County to repair and maintain streets and alleys.
• Action was tabled on the purchasing of a Bobcat Mini Excavator and a sidewalk project from the lumber yard to the library.
• The sidewalk in front of Foreman’s Auto will be repaired. The cost may not exceed $4,500 and will come from the street and alley fund.
• The board also tabled action on pay increases for salaried town employees and the evaluation
of dispatcher Brandi Hambleton.
• No action was taken on changing the speed limit on Cavalier Road.
• A fire run was reduced to $500 for Eric Gibson with the stipulation he will buy a fire department membership.
• Action was tabled on the closing of Mayes Street and regarding insurance coverage with Brown and Brown Agency.
In the public works authority portion of the meeting, Ernest Miller was awarded the bid for the purchase of a 3,000 gallon chemical storage tank. Miller purchased the tank for $428.
The board tabled action regarding Mark Cotner and the usage of sewer.
A contract with Wynn Construction to repair an existing a 12 foot filter at the water treatment plant. The cost will be $21,147, paid out of water and sewer and improvements.
In new business, office manager Crystal Harms resigned her position at city hall. Her final day will be Wednesday, July 28.
