Pryor approves city raises

PRYOR — Pryor city employees will receive a raise effective July 1.

In its meeting on Monday, the Pryor City Council approved a motion for a pay plan adjustment bonus of .664 percent for full-time employees and a pay plan adjustment increase of .664 percent, based on the 2010-2011 city pay plan.

The following city departments were approved for the raise: managerial, city clerk, court clerk, police dispatch, police animal control, police management, fire, park, library, cemetery, maintenanace garage, street, golf course and recreation center.

Council members heard plans for a possible Fourth of July fireworks display. The display is slotted for July 2 and will be set off at the baseball fields, should all permits be approved by the city.

In other business, the council:

• Approved the use of Whitaker Park for May 18-19 for the Tom Fleak Memorial Car Show.

• Approved payroll purchase orders through April 27.

• Approved claims for purchase orders through April 17.

• Acknowledged the receipt of any deficient purchase orders.

• Approved March appropriations requests.

• Approved adding a 2004 Crown Victoria police vehicle, VIN #2FAFP71W14X144722, to city surplus sale.

• Approved the expenditure of $4,850 for reimbursement of Hotel/Motel grant funds to the Pryor American Legion from cancelled checks and invoices received.

• Approved the expenditure of $4,115.36 for reimbursement of Hotel/Motel grant funds to Pryor Schools for a hospitality room from cancelled  checks and invoices received.

• Approved hiring a part-time employee, preferably CLEET certified, at $9 per hour through PeopleLink to help with the high volume of complaints on code violations until the Code Enforcement position can be filled full-time. (Job description for this position will be presented at a later date.)

• Approved the acceptance of a grant from Google in the amount of $175,000 for the first year and $50,000 for the next two years for wireless service.

• Approved allowing children to golf free on Tuesdays with paid adult, parent or guardian present with no more than five in a group.

• Approved the expenditure of $3,030 to RTI Group for the purchase of a disc repair machine for DVDs, Book-On-Disc, Blue-Ray, CDs and other library material utilizing disc format.

• Approved authorizing the fire chief to seek applications to fill four volunteer firefighter positions.

• Approved the expenditure of $52,736 to North Point Ford for the purchase of two 2013 Ford Taurus Interceptors with 3.5 V6 engines with all-wheel drive for the police department.

The police department did not go out for bids because North Point Ford met the state contract price.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Pryor City Council is 6 p.m., May 1 at Pryor City Hall.
