A fatality collision occurred Sept. 7 at 5:07 p.m. on the Will Rogers Turnpike six miles east of Afton.
Jimmy Carl King, 70, Ash Grove, Mo. was pronounced dead at the scene. He was pinned in his vehicle for three hours before Miami Fire Department freed him with the jaws of life.
King was traveling west in a loaded semi when a straight-line wind caught the trailer, flipping it onto its side and hitting the cement barrier wall. The tractor came to rest on the driver’s side.
The road was wet according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Brady Coyle’s report. King was wearing his seatbelt.
