Pryor Schools name new hires

Pryor, OK — The Pryor School Board meeting was Tuesday. New staff members were introduced, including Jason Freeman, Joe Green, Faith Bates-Donahue, Brian Ball, Mary Goodson, Debbie Collins, Dawn Freeman, Lynn Unruh, Steve Barth, Sarah Clemmens and Teri Henry.

Estimate of needs for 2012-2013 school year and financial statement for 2011-2012 school year were approved.

Jim Trout was approved as District Safety Coordinator.

The board approved the service agreement with Network Enhancement Systems for printer equipment, supplies and services for the 2012-2013 school year.

The board approved T-shirts for a Jefferson Elementary School fundraiser.

A rehabilitation agreement with Craig General Hospital was approved for occupational and physical therapy services for the 2012-2013 school year.

A school staffing agreement was approved with Maxim Healthcare Services for nursing services for special needs students for 2012-2013.

The board approved creation of a high school film and photography club and a  junior and high school robotics club.

Fundraisers for the junior high leadership class, a Special Olympics fundraiser and a fundraiser to assist a local nursing home were approved. The junior high  Leadership Class will have a bake sale at Trader’s Days in Whitaker Park.

The board accepted the resignation of Dee Rhymer who was the secretary at Lincoln Early Childhood Center.

The board hired Teri Henry as a pre-K teacher at Lincoln ECC for the 2012-2013 year.

Lisa Evans was hired as a kindergarten teacher at Lincoln ECC for 2012-2013.

Brandy Stone and Jenn Richardson were hired as pre-K aides at Lincoln ECC.

Patricia Callison and Lori Linihan were hired as para-professional (special needs) aides at Lincoln ECC.

Chrissy Willis was hired as a part time cook and part time district nutritionist at Lincoln Elementary for 2012-2013.

The board approved salaries of administrators and non-certified personnel for 2012-2013. One percent mirrors the step raise given to certified staff.

The board approved the negotiated agreement, certified salary schedule and salaries for teachers for the 2012-2013 year.

The board approved the Tulsa Model for teacher evaluation for the 2012-2013 school years and beyond.

The board approved the McRel Model for student evaluation for the 2012-2013 school year and beyond.

The board approved Pryor School District hosting the Oklahoma Student Council Convention on Nov. 3 to 5.

The board approved a resolution concerning high stakes standardized testing for Oklahoma School Students. The school board wants the legislature to look into re-examining the public school accountability system. They hope the legislature will consider multiple assessments and cost efficient sampling techniques.

Under new business the board approved allowing the junior high yearbook to use district transportation to travel to Springdale, Ark., for a yearbook workshop.

The Future Farmers of America Chapter will receive an award at the 2012 FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. on Oct. 24 to 27. The award being presented is a National Three Star Chapter, which is the highest any FFA club can receive.

Senior Garrett Yerigan has been selected as one of the top four finalists in the nation

for the Agricultural Communications Profi-ciency Award after becoming the state winner.
