One person was killed in an accident Saturday on a county road one mile north of Salina.
Richard Phillips, 44, Salina, was northbound at 4:39 a.m. He missed a curve, running off the road and striking a tree, according to investigators.
He died at the scene from massive head and body injuries. He was pinned in the 1983 Chevrolet pickup for two and one-half hours before he was extricated with the jaws of life by Salina Fire Department. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Dustin Thornton of the Mayes County Detachment of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
