PRYOR —
Roger Willcutt was elected to fill the unexpired term in Pryor’s Ward 1 in Tuesday’s election. Willcutt received 81 votes to Willard R. Buchanan’s 63. Willcutt was appointed to the seat in October to replace Council member Roy Ray who died in July.
Voters in Pryor School District approved Proposition 1, a $17,680,000 bond for Pryor Public Schools. The vote in favor was 648 to 307. The money will pay for remodeling and adding classrooms, adding a new concession and ticket stand for the high school football field. Land will be purchased for the Future Farmers of America.
Proposition 2, a $310,000 bond, passed by a vote of 647 to 316. This bond will purchase two buses and three SUVs.
A $7,565,000 bond in the Vinita School District to replace the roofs of school buildings, several classrooms and clean all the air ducts passed by a vote of 681 to 125. Mayes County voters in the Vinita School District rejected Proposition 1 by a vote of 6 to 3.
Vinita School District Proposition 2, proposal of $600,000 for transportation purposes over a 12-year period, passed by a vote of 666 to 148. Voters in Mayes County rejected Proposition 2 by a 6 to 3 vote.
