Melinda Kemp and Pryor Stone are rock solid in their support of the American Red Cross. Whether completing another successful Hero fundraising campaign as they recently did this year or providing leadership as a board member of the Rogers/Mayes/Wagoner County Service Center of the American Red Cross, they are always there ready to help.
“The support of Melinda Kemp and all of the Pryor Stone employees is greatly appreciated and I want to thank them for it,” said Misty Edwards-Matheson, “HEROES for the American Red Cross” campaign chair.
“Their continued support helps ensure that American Red Cross volunteers and staff are always ready to respond when needed in Mayes County. Also, I was pleased to be able to present Melinda her second Clara Barton Society lapel pin,” she said.
Last year, the local American Red Cross responded to near back-to-back disasters. In the Rogers/Mayes/Wagoner County Service Center service area that included 98 home fires (an increase of 18 over the previous year) and providing more than $56,100 in financial disaster assistance to help with immediate needs, such as temporary lodging, food and clothing.
Last year in Mayes County, the American Red Cross responded to 33 disasters affecting 115 individuals.
All money raised in Mayes County stays local to help those who experience a disaster, like a home fire or flood.
