LOCUST GROVE —
The schedule for Locust Grove Founders Day on May 12 has been finalized.
Founders Day commemorates the centennial of Locust Grove’s founding.
Events include:
8:30 a.m. — National anthem will open the day’s activities at the stage.
8:45 a.m. — Turtle race at the Locust Grove Family Physicians office.
9:30 a.m. — Doughnut-eating contest at Stacy's Donuts.
10 a.m. — Town dedication at Ross and Broadway streets, commemorating the centennial.
10:30 a.m. — og show at the veterinary office next to the library.
Noon — Hay scramble at Vickie's Flowers.
12:30 p.m. — Stick horse race at Vickie's Flowers.
1:30 p.m.— Washer toss at the lumber yard.
5 p.m. — Parade along Main Street.
All day — Car show at Locust Grove High School.
Entertainment venue lineup:
(Stage in front of Watts Plumbing)
10 a.m. — Mixed Company band.
Noon to 1:30 p.m. — Paul and the Jaguars
2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. — Outlaw Son
Two carnivals are scheduled. One, featuring rides, will be at the high school football field parking lot. Tickets are $25. The second is billed as old-fashioned carnival at the lot next to Dr. Collier’s office at 609 E. Main St. Tickets are 25 cents. Proceeds from the old-fashioned carnival will go to purchase Christmas lights.
