A high-speed pursuit led to the arrest of two people Tuesday night.
According to Mayes County Sgt. Alan Davis, the Mayes County Sheriff's Office received a call of vandalism at the Day's Inn Hotel located on Highway 69. Deputy Dan Waylan was sent to investigate and discovered the room had at one point been on fire. Waylan found what he believed to be a shake and bake methamphetamine lab in the bathtub and called Davis to confirm.
Davis said suspect information for Anthony Gutierrez was retrieved from the room rental information and a driver's license for Sarah Digiacomo was found in the room. Davis said officers started to track the suspects and received information they went to visit Digiacomo's family.
Davis said the suspects were found at Highway 69A and Elliott Street, headed westbound, and were followed to Oakwood Acres where a high speed pursuit began. The suspects traveled through Oakwood and ran roadblocks at Oakwood Road and 49th Street, driving through a residential yard.
Davis said Pryor Police Department joined Mayes County in the pursuit at Highway 69 and 49th Street.
He said the chase continued to Tractor Supply where the suspects drove over the grass and parking lot and continued to 9th Street and Carbide Road. Davis said the suspects turned from Carbide Road to Highway 20 and headed east toward Salina.
Davis said at Cement Plant Road, Salina Police Department had set up two sets of spike strips, both of which the fleeing suspects evaded. Davis said the suspects were finally boxed in around Fiesta Mart near Salina and the suspects pulled over. Davis said the suspects were traveling at speeds of 100 miles per hour on the highways.
Gutierrez and Digiacomo were arraigned in Mayes County District Court Wednesday. Gutierrez was charged with endeavoring to manufacture a controlled dangerous substance, second degree arson, attempting the elude police officers and two counts of running road blocks. Digiacomo was charged with endeavoring to manufacture a controlled dangerous substance and second degree arson.
