Pryor, OK —
After many changes the proposed 2012-2013 budget for the City of Pryor was approved for council recommendation at a special meeting of the City of Pryor Budget and Personnel committee meeting Tuesday.
Department heads gathered at the meeting with the committee to go over what changes had been made to each departments budget as well as what changes had been made to the general fund budget for the city.
The proposed budget’s final total comes to $5,176,882.
Factors contributing to rises in the budget this year include a rise in FICA, insurance premiums and worker’s compensation insurance. Pryor Creek Mayor Jimmy Tramel said part of the budgets were built to accomodate new employees helping contribute to the rise in insurance costs and FICA costs. The police department, fire department and animal control department all will receive new employees this year because of retirements and promotions. Some insurance rates went up by a few hundred dollars and some were raised by a few thousand dollars depending on the amount of employees in the department and how many new employees had to be accounted for.
All budgets were approved for council recommendation and must be finalized by August 7.
