Pryor, OK —
The Mayes Emergency Services Trust Authority met Sept. 11.
MESTA Director Rick Langkamp gave his report. Two engineers from EmergiTech were scheduled to visit MESTA the following Wednesday. The go-live date for the new 911 system was Sept. 12.
The Unit 50 ambulance has blown a motor and is on the agenda to be declared surplus. Johnny Jenzen of Mayes County Emergency Services and Rob Foreman of the fire association will see if any group is interested in having the ambulance. If no one wants it, Unit 50 will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. A similar unit was sold to Chouteau Salvage for $700.
MESTA is working to replace Unit 50. A 4x4 ambulance seems to be the best fit. MESTA has researched a van style (type II), but the medics would prefer a larger box. The type of ambulance that seems to work best is a type III. Frazer (a dealer) offers a unit for $120,000.
Langkamp said he is working on several communication enhancements for MESTA. One is an electronic transmission link to provide Tulsa hospitals, cath-labs and cardiac centers with direct EKG strips from the scene. This will allow Tulsa hospitals time to prepare for patient arrivals in critical situations, and help those in the field interpret EKGs. This used to be possible in analog mode though cell phones. Now that the cell phones are digitized, there has to be a new way of transmitting this information.
The CAD software in dispatch has to be updated. The software interface that is being priced now will allow the computers to automatically start to run reports for the medic from the dispatcher. Caller information, type of call and time are some of the auto-upload information.
Langkamp said he hopes to assist the cost of Pictometry for the county. Pictometry is a collection of overhead photos on a map of an area. There are issues of redundancy on the 911 lines. Langkamp said he will need imput on the 911 lines.
In August, there were 16 times when the ambulance service was at level one, meaning there was only one spare ambulance available. Four times, MESTA was at level zero, meaning no ambulances were available.
Insurance collections for the month of August were $181,677.93. Assets for MESTA are $2,524,831. Total fixed assets are $908,600. Total assets $3,433,431.
Liabilities for the month of August were $72,280 and total net worth $3,361,151.
