Chouteau schools awards bids; bus driver resigns

CHOUTEAU — The Chouteau School Board voted to accept the resignation of a bus driver at its December meeting last Thursday.

Gary Miksell, a bus driver for the school district, tendered his resignation to the board, which was accepted following an executive session by board members.

Several items, listed in the consent agenda, were approved with a single “yes” vote by the board, including the following:

• transfer of $154 from the athletics activity account to the boys basketball account for working concession

• transfer of $241 from athletics to the girls basketball account for working concession

• transfer of $269 from athletics to the baseball account for working concession

• transfer of $485 from athletics to the football account for working concession

• transfer of $500 from athletics to the senior class account for working concession

• updated regulations for school facility use

• approval for the first grade class to go Christmas caroling at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home on Dec. 17

• approval for the upper elementary to go see the movie “Tangled” at the Allred Theatre in Pryor this week

• approval for the Mazie and upper elementary gifted and talented students to go to Philbrook Museum on Dec. 10

Board members also approved several bids that will be paid for out of QZAB bonds.

Erwin Glass was awarded the bid to complete several door repairs. Crown Electric was awarded the bid to complete electrical work in the maintenance garage for the amount of $2,250.

QZAB bonds will also be used to pay for the purchase of four biometric time clocks.

Superintendent Art Schofield gave a general financial report to the board.

“Everything is in good order,” he said. “We’re in pretty good shape as far as this year goes.”

Chouteau schools will dismiss on Friday for

the Christmas holiday. Classes will resume on Jan. 3, 2011.
