PRYOR —
Mayes County Commissioners approved a request for use of parking spaces on the east side of the Mayes County Courthouse Monday.
The parking spaces will be used by CMS Willowbrook during the construction of the new city hall. Chris Ball told commissioners they would use the space to house a job office trailer, parking for workers and lay-down. Commissioners were told there would be no equipment left on the parking lot and it would be used to keep bricks, steel and other materials out of the mud and dirt at the jobsite. Ball also told commissioners his company needs to use this area because of the utility hook-ups in the alley.
Commissioners were concerned with potential parking problems during jury selection, but were told resources and vehicles could be moved during busy days at the courthouse.
In other business, the commissioners:
• Opened and awarded bids for a 2006 or newer Hydratail Trailer. Commissioners awarded the bid to Porter Truck Sales for a 2006 trailer costing $39,505.
• Approved a deposit of $100,000 from Cherokee Nation and $38,208.46 from Pryor to District 1 to the T-County Highway fund.
• Approved an invoice for the annual inspection of county road system bridges in Mayes County. Commissioners approved spending $3,446.79 for all three districts’ inspections.
• Approved a resolution to declare equipment from District 3 to be surplused and sold at auction on Sept. 22. Equipment to be surplused includes trucks, backhoe buckets, a salt spreader and tires and wheels.
• Tabled a decision to choose a new drug testing service. Commissioners received information from Alcohol and Drug Testing, Inc. based out of Oklahoma City. Commissioners decided to table the motion until they could find out if the service charges for mileage.
• Approved a transfer of $41,482 to District 3 in the T-County Highway fund. Commissioner Ryan Ball told commisioners the money would be used to buy a one-ton truck with a dump bed and hydraulic arm to replace a surplused pick-up and a dump truck.
• Approved consideration of claims for payment.
• Approved a request for blanket purchase orders.
