PRYOR —
New equipment for the fire department was approved by the Pryor City Council Tuesday.
The fire department will be purchasing 21 sets of Globe turn-out gear from Casco for $25,242, 23 sets of Vulcan boots for $7,406 from Wayest Safety and 23 Bullard helmets for $3,750 from Wayest Safety. Fire Chief Tim Thompson said all the of the funds will come from the fire department’s capitol outlay, and will not affect funds to be used for the purchase of a new truck.
In other business, the council:
• Heard an update from Dale Ragains on a possible fireworks show scheduled for Sept. 30. The show would be for the 100th year celebration of the First Church of God, pending the burn ban is lifted. He said they have filed all of their paperwork with the fire department and asked the city to lower the permit fee. He said Pryor has the highest permit fee of any city at $250. He said the next highest is $125 and asked the city to consider lowering the fee to $125. Mayor Jimmy Tramel said the council would take it under advisement.
• Approved the mayor’s Proclamation of Sept. 17 through Sept. 23 as Constitution week.
• Approved the minutes of the Sept. 4 council meeting.
• Approved payroll purchase orders through Sept. 28.
• Approved claims for purchase orders through Sept. 18.
• Acknowledged receipt of any deficient purchase orders.
• Approved August appropriations requests.
• Approved Memorandum of Agreement and Understanding regarding Mayes County 911 Upgrade and Improvements to hardware and software systems.
• Approved the expenditure of $57,600 to Graber and Associates, P.C. for schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding and negotiations and construction administration for Pryor City Hall Project.
• Approved the expenditure of $81,349.57 to CMS Willowbrook for pay application no. two, partial payment for Pryor Recreation Center Re-Roof Contract.
• Approved grant in the amount of $5,572.10 to Mayes County Fair Board from hotel/motel fund for the purchase of tables to be used at the County Fair.
• Approved grant in the amount of $2,500 to the Pryor Band Boosters from hotel/motel funds for the purchase of trophies to be presented at Band Day. Pryor band day is Sept. 29.
• Approved a grant in the amount of $1,020 to the Pryor Creek Recreation Center from the hotel/motel funds for the purchase of bleachers. The bleachers will be used for events at the rec center including scrimmages and swim meets.
• Approved a grant in the amount of $2,500 to the Pryor Area Chamber of Commerce from the hotel/motel funds for the Parade of Lights.
• Approved a grant of $30,000 to the Pryor Area Chamber of Commerce from hotel/motel funds for ads and promotion.
• Approved a grant in the amount of $1,889.93 to the American Legion from the hotel/motel funds for the purchase of lighting. The new lighting will be energy efficient.
• Approved a grant in the amount of $5,000 to Pryor Public Schools from the hotel/motel funds to host the Student Council State Convention. The state convention will be Nov. 3 through Nov. 5.
• Approved a grant of $4,000 to the Pryor Public Schools from the hotel/motel funds for Pryor High School Athletics/Hospitality. The money will be used to supply hospitality rooms throughout the year because schools are no longer allowed to pay for the rooms themselves.
• Approved authorizing the Mayor to declare scrap iron and metal found at bond project remedial site as surplus and sell to the highest bidder.
• Approved the expenditure of $49,332.30 to First Bank of Oklahoma, Claremore for the annual Golf Course Irrigation Payment.
• Approved authorizing the park superintendent to seek bids to finish the Park Maintenance Building.
• Approved hiring Lynn Hathhorn to fill the vacant Animal Control Officer position at Range A, Sep 1 (annual salary $22,716) effective Sept. 19.
• Approved the appointment of Tommy Parker, Sr. as reserve police officer effective Sept. 19.
• Approved the appointment of Dr. Stephen L. Dill as resperve police oficer effective Sept. 19.
• Approved authorizing the mayor to sing the Cardinal Tracking, Inc. Total System Support Service Policy for the Pryor Police Department expiring Oct. 31, 2013.
• Approved the expenditure of $7,357.80 to Cardinal Tracking, Inc. for Badge BASE System Annual Software License and Customer Support Renewal Package at the Police Department.
• Approved the resignation of Michelle Martin from the City Clerk’s Office effective Sept. 5.
• Approved authorizing the city clerk to seek applications to fill vacant position created by the resignation of Michelle Martin.
• Heard an update on the new 911 system. Pryor Police Chief Dennis Nichols told the council the equipment is in place at the police department and MESTA and they are receiving calls through the new system. He said The fire department and the Mayes County Sheriff’s Office should be up and running in the next week. He also told the council they are getting ready to ask they state for the grant re-imbursement.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Pryor City Council is 6 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Pryor City Hall.
