Disaster denial won’t turn Oklahoma blue
Well he showed us,
didn’t he?
President Barack Obama recently denied Oklahoma’s request for disaster assistance for flood damage.
Now we’ve seen the first push back against our state from the President, who couldn’t carry one county in Oklahoma last November.
Rumor has it the president told one of our elected representatives that he would get back at Oklahoma for our decision on election day.
I can only guess this must be his way of sticking it to us since our cities and counties, already strapped for cash in this economic downturn, will have to foot the bill themselves.
Why else would he deny our request for disaster assistance?
We met the threshold and exceeded it by $600,000.
Why would a president who campaigned with big promises to Main Street and not Wall Street deny such a request? Turns out he’s been more willing to fork over cash to giants like GM, AIG and the entire banking industry. I’m guessing he must have been talking about Main Streets in blue America. Forget red America. Let them foot the bill
themselves.
Pryor suffered some of the largest damage we’ve ever seen in the May flood, yet the President figures he’ll let the locals pay for this mess. God forbid any federal funds go directly to cities and counties who could actually use the money.
It’s convenient to deny a request and not have to give a reason other than the damage was “not of the severity and magnitude as to be beyond the capabilities of the state, affected local governments and voluntary agencies.”
It was $5.2 million worth of damages for the entire state, $2.3 million of that from Mayes County. How is that within our capabilities when we’re faced with a severe budget shortfall?
This is the same President Barak Obama who sent Hillary Clinton to the Middle East with $900 million to give to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, a group with ties to terrorist organizations like Hamas. I wonder how many rockets $900 million will provide? I get it now. Oklahoma’s priorities are mixed up.
I guess the president figures that will teach us, and next time we will vote blue.
