SHAWNEE – The Locust Grove Pirates are kings of 4A baseball.
In their first appearance in the high school baseball state championship game, the Pirates defeated Woodward, 4-0, Saturday under a bright blue sky at Ed Skelton Field.
Chase Knott chased home the Pirates’ first run with a third-inning single and Treston Beene drove in two more with a fifth-inning single.
Righthander Justin Bailey scattered four hits, two in the seventh, to earn the victory. He struck out the final two batters he faced.
Knott collected three of the Pirates’ eight hits.
The Pirates won their 13th straight game to finish the season with a 25-7 record. - GRDA CEO resigning
