Katie Chupp of the Adair FFA chapter has been named the Northeast District Star in Agricultural Production of the Oklahoma FFA Association and will compete as a finalist for the Stars Over Oklahoma awards to be presented at the upcoming 86th annual state FFA convention, May 1-2.
The Oklahoma FFA Association names a state winner from among five finalists, one from each district, for its three top awards – State Star Farmer, State Star in Agribusiness and State Star in Agricultural Placement. These awards recognize high school seniors who have established a profitable agricultural program, demonstrated outstanding management skills, and met other educational and leadership requirements.
These 15 star finalists represent the best overall supervised agricultural experience programs of the 727 senior FFA members who are being recommended to receive the prestigious State FFA Degree, the highest degree the Oklahoma FFA Association can bestow upon its members.
A panel of judges has interviewed the 15 finalists and has pre-selected the winners.
However, the announcement will be kept confidential until the third session of the convention, May 2, 6:30 p.m., at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
In addition, each of the 15 District Stars receives a $250 cash award.
Chupp’s local FFA chapter advisors are Devin Delozier and Shane Johnson.
