Ethan Propp of the Adair FFA chapter has been named the Northeast District Star in Agricultural Placement of the Oklahoma FFA Association and will compete as a finalist for the Stars Over Oklahoma awards.
The Stars Over Oklahoma awards were to be presented Wednesday night at the 86th State FFA Convention in Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma FFA Association names a state winner from among five finalists, one from each district, for its three top awards – State Star Farmer, State Star in Agribusiness and State Star in Agricultural Placement. These awards recognize high school seniors who have established a profitable agricultural program, demonstrated outstanding management skills, and met other educational and leadership requirements.
These 15 star finalists represent the best overall supervised agricultural experience programs of the 727 senior FFA members who are being recommended to receive the State FFA Degree, the highest degree the state FFA Association can bestow upon its members.
A panel of judges interviewed the 15 finalists and pre-selected the winners.
The announcement of State Star Farmer, State Star in Agribusiness and State Star in Agricultural Placement was to made Wednesday night at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
In addition, each of the 15 District Stars receives a $250 cash award co-sponsored by Oklahoma Farm Bureau, The Chickasha Nation and McDonalds. The three state winners each receive a $2,000 cash award and the Governor’s Trophy sponsored by Blue & Gold Sausage Co., Sirloin Club of Oklahoma, Hartzog Conger Cason & Neville, Farm Credit Services of East Central Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives.
