PRYOR —
The Mayes County Fair Board met Nov. 15. For the next three months, changes will be made to the rules for the 2013 fair.
Recommendations are made to the board by department superintendents, agriculture teachers, extension agents and 4-H leaders. Each month, the board will discuss these suggestions, then vote.
In November, no changes were recommended on sheep rules. Concerning the goat show, the board discussed removing the wording “all four feet of the goat must remain on the ground.” In dairy, the board discussed allowing all dairy animals to be family-nominated. Family nomination means students living in the same household.
At the December meeting, board members will vote on these proposed changes and discuss recommended changes to beef, swine and horses.
Any exhibitor at Mayes County Fair who has not picked up a placing check should do so at the OSU Extension Center. All checks not collected by Dec. 31 will be voided and will not be reissued.
