A total of 2,370 head sold July 16, compared to 1,661 last week and 3,152 last year. Steer and heifer calves with average flesh sold $2 to $8 lower. Buyers extremely selective for quality and condition. Demand improved with larger groups of cattle. Slaughter cows sold $6 to $8 lower. Slaughter bulls sold $10 to $12 lower. Low dressing cows and bulls up to $15 lower.
